Re: Movie Thread

Getting rid of calculators was probably just an extremist reaction after decades (centuries?) of enslavement by AI.

Banned out of pure spite. Fuck computers, we got that calculation shit on lock.

Didn't they replace it with "Crusade"?
Paul's jihad is referred to as the "holy war".

Re: Movie Thread

Did they mention the Butlerian Jihad or did they ignore that concept again - the whole reason people mutate themselves into living computers. It's not there. But I do love Herbert's genial reaction to the 1984 film (talks about it in the foreword of one of the books). He wasn't even mad that the fi...

Re: Non-cape tv show

Wayne Pygram does a wonderful Australian Peter Cushing. It's a shame he only appeared as an extra in Revenge of the Sith.

So I'm on the second ep. of Farscape. Anygood?
Yes, it's massively inventive. Falls off a bit in season 4, but the miniseries salvages the ending.

Re: Non-cape tv show

meanwhile, I suspect Kyle MacLachlan is playing an SNL sketch version of David Lynch

Cooper has one character trait, which is being a massive troll to everyone. But in the most esoteric of ways.

EDIT: I want to add that I am massively enjoying the show

I feel bad for that one-eyed woman obsessed with drapes. She's way cuter than whoever Everett McGill wants to have sex with.

Re: Non-cape tv show

So let me see if I follow this... Detective Cooper is gonna throw rocks at a glass bottle while a deputy reads out names. And if he smashes it, the last person named is the main murder suspect. And this is based on a Tibetan dream he had. Okay. https://i.imgflip.com/8ig753.jpg It's not even the fact...

Re: James A Janisse aka The Dead Meat Cuck

"You're just the cook cuck!" - Hitchhiker lol remember Bill Moseley's Jim Siedow impression in TCM 2? "Gotta race for that money now, boyyyy, gotta chase that dollar y'all!" Just one of them hard peppercorns. That’s a very quotable and fun movie. Shame they cut the Joe Bob Briggs cameo. The bit whe...
