Of course he was. I didn't know of CN cancelling it for the cheaper option with Chimea at the time and I knew that bitch boi was lying out of his ass. Kids cartoons in all countries don't care about TV ratings but merchandising in the first place. Toys don't sell and the show gets cancelled. Example of this was Dragon Ball Z Kai getting cancelled the first time. People weren't buying the merchandise and it got cancelled.

Remember when Arin was fired from directing Axe Cop as he decided to sleep in on his very first day, then had a bitch fit at the producer when he had the audacity to ring Arin up and ask where he was?

Thundercats 2011 toys sold badly as they were terribly made, either tiny, overpriced crap, or the larger ones had screwholes everywhere and Bandai couldn't work out how to articulate them properly.

I really liked the 2011 Thundercats, it was far superior to the original, and they were even going to expand it into a shared universe with SilverHawks and TigerSharks.

Even if the cartoon was cancelled because nobody wanted to watch it, that stuff was like 9 years ago. What didn't work back then might work now, and the power of muh nostalgia has only gotten stronker.

So it was one of those situations? That happens sometimes as well. That is what happened with the 90s Ruby Spears MegaMan. Toys were poorly made so no one bought them. And since no one bought the toys the show was cancelled even though it was #1 in the ratings for kid shows in the US at the time.

Merch is powerful. There has been at least one Super Sentai show (Ohranger, aka Power Rangers Zeo for uncultured barbarians) who was kept on air despite lackluster ratings because the toys sold like crazy.

Actually with Sentai, ratings hasn't been great the last few years but the merch is what kept it alive from what SS fans have said.

But man the backstory with Ohranger was wild. What happened is that Jap fans were complaining that the franchise had gotten too light-hearted with Zyuranger, Dairanger, and Kakuraranger (MMPR Seasons 1-3) respectfully. So Toei promised to make series darker with Ohranger. When it was about to air, the Train Sarin attack happened and Toei freaked out and toned it down. Fans got pissed off at Toei breaking their word and thus the ratings dropped big time until it got revitalised with Carranger.
