The early videos were just Spoony riffing on the batshit insanity in Ultima's pulp / sci-fi elements. Then he just started becoming bitter when the quality of the games went to shit.

The early reviews worked bc Spoony never took them that seriously. They were just fluff pieces meant to build up his real magnum opus.

I'll always appreciate them for inspiring me to check out the first Ultima Underworld, which is now my favourite video game

The criticism offered by Bimmy , Doge and their imitators was dogshit compared to modern Youtubers'.
They were people with average/below average intelligence copying what they saw in Mystery Science Theater 3000, nitpicking trivial things to look smart while themes, plot and, in case of vidyas, gameplay were flying above their empty heads, and taking part in mongoloid skits for toddlers and jabroni adults.

Back then there was no reason for smart, competent people to make Youtube videos.
Bimmy and 10incher were literal retards.
Suede and Peerod were literal retards.
Doge was an ex janitor.
Cockslut was ready to give and receive on tranny porn sites, while pretending to be hardcore Christian. He bought all the comics of the local bargain bin and said to himself "i can be Doge, but about comics!".
Benito was a fat idiot who bought all the animu dvds of the local bargain bin, and said to himself "i can be Doge, but about animu!".
Spoony was a narc who couldn't keep a job.
Lupa was a narc who couldn't keep a job.
Sarah Wilson was a narc, using her father's death as an excuse to not do jack shit.
MarzCunt was a useless idiot, wasting her dad's money to go to Japan, while not doing jack shit.
Ellis was a dumb film school whore, aborting mulatto babies.
Failous was a manchild who had sex with plastic dolls. And nothing or no one else.
Brad was a failed porn director.

SsethTzeentach instead started making Youtube videos because he could make 10 times more than with his corporate position, that he achieved after a degree in medicine, despite his family being ruined by the Soviet Union.
