Yes, because people get more autistic about Star Wars than almost any other franchise. People aren't just able to enjoy dumb fun movies anymore. You either have to herald it as some wonderful paragon of film-making (Marvel guff), an abomination (DCEU and current Star Wars) or we have to insert politics into it (Ghostbusters or the recent Planet of the Apes film).
Planet of the Apes was allways political tho

No moreso than most other decent pieces of Sci-fi, and certainly the audience didn't fixate on these aspects as much as they do now.

A shame the Mega Man fan movie didn't have such an all-star cast.
It did this thing where it was pretty faithful to the source material. I enjoyed it. Bad movie, but not in a bad way.
I wish they'd gotten cosplay outfits for all of the Robot Masters, 'cause the CGI ones were like Lawnmower-Man-tier quality.

I enjoyed it but yeah, it had some bad moments. Especially the middle. It feels like they just put in half the movie so that everyone had something to do while Rey was off with Luke.
