Don't forget that the women are also bat shit crazy but the hero still wants to fuck them anyway. They need some point of reality so those books can connect with their readers. After all they're for women that men avoid like the plague usually because they're bat shit crazy.

Usually the women in those novels are as bland as possible for an easier self-insert. Twilight and Fifty Shades of Rape are shining examples.
