Just the wrong kind of weebshit.

It'll finally get cancelled if someone dies, then 20 years later they start a live-action movie franchise.

The closest we had was Homer dieing over and over while being in a couch gag some years ago, some really brutal/graphic shit and it was the joke
On the internet, everyone end up being Spoony and Tim Buckley

"Dead Bart" from season 1 was pretty grimdark.

Even I know that NGE has especially pretentious fanfaggots that think they are ultra intelligent for watching mecha trash.

It's also perfect in line with modern movies with that whole snarky "I'm much more mature and realistic than those other shows. I'll show you what would really happen if some teenager has to protect the world with a giant robot!" attitude.

That was a weird one. I'm pretty sure they just ripped off an episode of Candle Cove, but I my memory is strangely fuzzy when it comes to specifics.

And The Simpsons would work perfect as a propaganda tool for SJWs. There are barely any persons of color in them, at least one of which is so stereotypical it's downright problematic, and Homer is like the dictionary entry picture for "White Privilege".

NGE was garbo and only got a cult status around here because anime was still fairly young in the early 00's. Theres a reason why "get in the robot shinji" is such a meme, because the character is so unlikable.

At least we got rei tits
Dude, 5 moves, I'm sitting on your arm until it's snapping. But to each their own.
