Look at popular YT channels. I mean the really popular ones. The girls look good, the guys look good and come off as people a teenager would like to hang out with. Unless you do something extraordinary that is really interesting or entertaining to watch, people are going to care a lot about how you look and if they'd want something to do with you IRL.

Solid reasoning, but in response they'd probably equate it to pop music and dismiss those channels as teeny-bopper disney channel crap while thinking they because they aren't so good looking are "the real artists." Eh, this isn't anything new. Ashens has been connected to TGWTG for many years. His videos used to be posted on their website and he has always acted chummy towards them at conventions. The important thing is he hasn't ever done a major collaboration with them. He has mentioned Mike Jeavons in some videos and Film Brain once had a very short cameo in one of his videos but that's it.

Unlike them he actually has a career outside YouTube ad revenue. He has some writing gigs (he occasionally mentions traveling to London for work meetings), sponsored works, collaborations with BBC, etc.
