Who in the blue hell are any of those people? Rob is the dinosaur, and I think I've seen the black guy before. Is that the same girl from Demo Reel?
Who is the other guy? Did he finish delivering their Starbucks coffee and they just asked him to stay and be in a random video?
Is the old diabetes guy their dad? The property manager? The all-new Mike Michaud?
...and still: Spoony did nothing.

Black guy is from Demo Reel, the girl is the replacement of the girl from Demo Reel, the other guy makes props and diabetes guy is Walker Sr.

it's the "Michaud has some dirt on them" conspiracy.
It's not blackmail, it's just a contract. Years ago Doge signed away the rights to Nostalgia Critic to Michaud in exchange for Michaud handling his hosting and guaranteeing he'll always be top dog on the site. With them getting less visitors to the main site, the deal's just getting worse for Doge.
That is a contract only someone as naive as Doge would sign.

Probably hoped he could abandon the Critic for stuff like Melvin, Emo Jones and of course Demo Reel. Instead he got stuck in a hell of his own making.

He's pretty much accepted his role as kids entertainer at this point. I think Demo Reel was his one last burst of "creativity", since then he's given up on doing anything other than Nostalgia Critic(hence no more Bum Reviews or Ask That Guy, even though they were popular and way cheaper and less problematic from a monetary POV).

Kids are where all the money's at. All the biggest Youtube stars have become shameless tween shills. Only question is whether youfocus content primarily for boys or girls or try to grab a neutral sweetspot with both (like Minecraft and games + songshit).

I'm not sure what is the actual value of a single subscriber on youtube and how does it translate to visits on their website, but it brings some kind of joy to see how incompetent they were all those years, with how were they handling everything including blip.tv and their website. That it took them so long to realize that a youtube channel should be their main venue for the kahntent they are producing. Speaking off do they diversify their video hosting providers or if some newer yt bot blacklists them, they will have nothing ?
Subscribers are in theory supposed to just be a forecast of how many views you could expect each video give or take, but we see people with a million subs with maybe 10% actually watching, so in the end its a meaningless number other than to hopefully get seen by people who will replace the people that left.

We've mentioned before that Nostalgia critic brings in audiences, its just taking time for other people outside the channel awesome bubble to see it.

The cases of high subscription count with low views are generally due to someone who was really popular in the past, but then lost popularity. The thing is that the subscription count never reflects lost popularity, as people frequently never bother to unsubscribe and of course you have the many accounts that subscribed and then later on became inactive, but their subscription is still counted. Having millions of subscribers in and of itself just says you were really popular at some point, but isn't necessarily a qualifier of how popular you are right now.

The pertinent question is your subscriber growth. At this point one year ago, the Channel Awesome channel had 710,000 subscribers, meaning he gained 290,000 subscribers within the last year. That's good growth (percentage wise, it's 41%) and shows that the channel is presently popular.

Look at how long it took them to reach a million subs.
Cool. Now all those people have almost as many subs as Ashens. A dude with a couch and no website beat the guys.

If you think I'm not correct, you can check this link and tell me what YOU think the marketing strategy is at play here.
