Did you just claim that Nintendo gives a shit about Metroid?
They just gave us a logo, what more do you want?

"We are NINTENDO. These other competitors provide a better product, more of it and charge less, but we are NINTENDO. All other games pale in comparison to ours. We've been making games for years! We have an eight-year legacy, and our fans like and respect that! They want to contribute to our success and help us pay our billth. Other competitors might have good games, but do they have MARIO, ZELDA AND METROID? I think not!
This has applied to them since the N64 days. The mentality that everyone is shit but them is why so many developers and publishers want nothing to do with them, they have historically treated 3rd parties like crap and with the Wii they had a chance to rectify that but what did they do during the E3s? Literally only promote their first party stuff and never promote good third party games on that system. I own a lot of Wii games, 3rd party devs tried hard as fuck to make good games for it and their are many HIDDEN GEMS on the system that Nintendo never promoted.

Compared to Sony and Microsoft, who will give you a huge stage presentation for your game if it's exclusive and market shit for you to sell their system. But as you said, Nintendo is insular as fuck and is very typically Japanese in that regard. Their online has always been garbage and they tend to make the same shit over and over again.

I remember reading an article about/by the guy in charge of Nintendo of America's marketing campaign during the GameCube era. He mentioned that Reggie was pushing the first party title Geist to target older male gamers, but the ad guy for confused looks when he mentioned pushing Resident Evil 4.
