I agree with BL2 sucking, and I LOVED borderlands 1, in fact I still play one to this day.

2 fucked up the weapons, masteries, loot, enemy balancing and added lame as fuck characters for 12 year old hipsters.

Joe's bloated face is starting to scare me if I'm honest. I always get the feeling like he's about to feast on everything around him a la that mask thing from Spirited Away.

I play both to this day, but BL1 is more fun for me now because it's hard to go "back" (aka forwards) to the much shittier drop rates. I like getting cool loot and BL1 has a lot better loot drops. The cobra assault rifle kicks fucking ass as well.

Lilith is overpowered as fuck in BL1 though. I was playing 1.5 with Mordecai last time I remember.

Without factoring the writing and shit like that, another of the bigger issues was difficulty. Not in the sense of actually increasing difficulty, but by "difficulty" pretty much translating to "turn everything into a massive fucking bullet sponge". That just makes shit more tedious on top of gameplay that can already get tedious pretty quick.

It also kind of fucks progression by making weapon choice not matter much outside of having slag or not, even less if you've built your character even semi-sufficiently, and that in turn mostly defeats the purpose of the whole loot system.
I've explained this in the past. The bullet sponge complaint is way overrated if you've built a proper character with a good build. Slag IS fairly required on UVHM and OP levels, but it's not that hard to slag something and then swap to your main gun. That's WHY so many characters have a skill to increase swap speed. I find it gives more strategy to combat too, because you need to figure out how to implement slag into your play style and build. Some characters like Maya get autoslag so you can pretty much ignore the requirement anyway.

Weapon choice still matters, I don't know what you're talking about. Good weapons are still good and less good weapons are still less good. Elements are contextual in BL2 and I think that makes the combat better, not worse. You can't run a pure fire or pure corrosive build because those elements are meant to be used contextually against certain enemies. It increases strategy and gives you a reason to find a good weapon in every element. That said, Slag, explosive and Shock are neutral elements and you can run a full shock, explosive or full slag build if you have the right skills. Slag build is not as supported but you can still kill shit with slag guns, absolutely. And yes, all this info is for UVHM and OP.

The biggest criticism I have of BL2 gameplay is they fucked the drop rates hard. BL1 allowed you to get good gear in ANY rarity. BL2 pretty much limits you at endgame to purples, red text blues, legendaries and pearls. Also legendaries in BL2 are fairly disappointing and red text guns can be kind of OP at times.

Also, critting enemies vastly reduces or eliminates the need for slagging, and crits are headshots, so the game does still reward skill on high levels. Like I said, the biggest problem is the game doesn't drop good gear often enough, but you can do farming runs and other shit.

That was kind of my point, it's not hard, it's just adding a bit of tedium.

I'd assume a big part of it was me having pretty much only used Krieg, but I never had much issue just keeping a slag gun out then tard raging things to death most of the time. I guess my thing with weapons not mattering too much would also be attributed to that.

But that's more what I was getting at than whether or not weapons are good or bad, character build generally felt more important, and that's kind of dumb for what's supposed to be a loot centric FPS.

I didn't like Borderlands 1 very much, and BL2 felt refined in every way, except writing - it wasn't terrible all times, but any time some meme, Claptrap, Tiny Tina or some other monstrosity showed up, I kept losing interest. Still, gameplay wise, it was just more enjoyable, and there is a plenty of content, especially with the DLC.

Now switching from this super interesting game discussion, I've noticed that Joe can't help to shill the food he eats, even if he's not getting paid for it. He kept raving about how he got fat because of delicious Chick-fil-a, and he's constantly eating some cereals (I'm pretty sure I've seen him eating them multiple times).

Also, is it just a thing in burgerland, but why do grown-ups eat cereals for kids? I'm not talking about Joe here, there seems to be this big nostalgic push for your favourite childish memory and apparently it starts with buying cereals, and the worst ones your money can buy.

I don't mind some cereals, but mostly the simpliest ones - shit like Fruity Pebbles and basically anything ever sold to you by a cereal mascot looks nasty, like a coloured polystyrene. Muesli's where it's at, it tastes better and I don't feel like I'm downing spoons of sugar with every bite.

I've got no idea why adults eat sugary cereal. That shit doesn't even taste good to me. The best-tasting cereals imo are shit like raisin bran and honey bunches of oats, although the former is unfortunately high in sugar despite being billed as healthy. I still wouldn't count it as a sugary cereal though, as I don't think it's what most kids would be eating or want to eat.
