I knew one person with a NES. Hard to get excited over this:

When you have an Amiga at home with splash screens like this:

The Nes had good games too
-On the internet, everyone end up being Spoony or Tim Buckley
-All fanbases are shit
-Most people had, have and will have shit tastes

I had a Commodore 64 during the NES heyday and didn't really see what the fuss was all about. They seemed to be at the same level graphics-wise, but the C64 had a better sound chip. Although in retrospect, the NES controller with two buttons (four if you include select and start) is a huge advantage over just one on the C64.
EDIT: Oh, and the C64's weird and annoying problem with never knowing if you had to use joystick port 1 or 2 depending on the game.

Sure, but six year old me took a glance at the NES games and thought they a shit. Worse graphics, much, much, much worse sound and I could get any Amiga game I wanted for free. So why bother with a NES? You couldn't even find NES games if you wanted so there's that.

The only bad thing about the Amiga (and really, most western PCs in the pre-Windows) is that arcade ports were usually shit. The Amiga version of Final Fight makes the SNES port look arcade perfect.

That's sadly all too true. Then again, I had no idea what arcades even were so I didn't even want those games as the names told me nothing.

Can't blame ya. Outside of Iberia and Scandinavia, The NES' presence in the rest of Europe was downright non-existent. To be honest, it's weird that there's apparently a surplus of Nintenyearolds in the continent since the SNES only barely broke even and I very much doubt the subsequent consoles did any better.

Most arcade titles in the Amiga were godawful because they are actually ports of ports. That is, Dev companies were so lazy that they just copypasted the code from the Atari ST directly into the Amiga  Anything from US Gold and Tiertex was especially downright horrifying

Dev companies is even too much credit. They usually hired one guy, pointed at a game and said "We want that on the Amiga/Atari ST. Here's the source code/we don't have the source code. You have a month. Good luck.".

Nice shitpost, but I've watched enough Ashens to know that Europe had complete shit in the 80's as far as games go.
