Even in the "best" case for the franchise WB will probably just pull some kind of reboot after throwing RT into the garbage bin.
Which will is bound to create additional salt. Not just because of the reboot, but because there's like a good chunk of the remaining fans who have very strong opinions on how to properly reboot/fix the story.

So last season really only happened because Crunchyroll stepped in, and this effectively confirms CR has no desire to pour any more money into this IP.
