kek @ gold especially! What are you going to do with it in a real crisis? Nobody will buy it from you because it has no practical use and when people don't have money, nobody will buy your gold either way. Paying directly with it is actually illegal here and that's just what can easily happen to bitcoin. They outlaw it, with the reasoning that taxes aren't paid, and that's it.

somebody take it as currency regardless? Sure. Would you be able to buy food or pay your rent with it in times of need? No. Completely useless.
At least gold can be fashioned into jewelry for the local warlord's concubines. Bitcoins are pretty much all virtual.

You're implying they would buy the gold and not jut take it and your sister too since the concurbines have to come from somewhere.
If everything remains fine, gold is an okay investment. Just don't plan on earning loads of money. But when shit hits the fan gold is worthless.

Sure, they can take it away if your just some guy, but what if you're a goldsmith? Sure, not the most useful profession in a Mad May setting, but you could get lucky.
