They already tired and failed to have a new Boba with Phasma. They plain don't know why the fanbase fell in love with Boba in the first place.

(It 's either irrational imprinting on a cool suit of armor, or his iconic debut in the Holiday Special, none of which can be reproduced. )

The Holiday Special is a little bit before my time, but if you watch it, you'll see that Boba Fett was built up to be a major new character. Lucasfilm said he'd play a big part in the next movie. And the toys were soon released, even before Empire Strikes Back came out.

So kids built the character up in their imagination. Boba was such a minor character that his name is not mentioned even once in The Empire Strikes Back.

The Holiday Special had very little impact on fans in the 80s, because it wasn't rerun. You couldn't rent it. It was swept under the rug. I don't think I even knew about it until I got on the internet in the 90s.

The way I remember it, Boba Fett had an extra-cool bio either attached to the action figure or as part of the comics and coloring books and us kids responded to that and, yes, made the character important in our imaginations.

The Star Wars merchandise that every kid owned back in the day had an impact that was about as large as the movies.

Because even "Return of the Jedi" doesn't treat Boba Fett as all that special. The movie dispenses with him very quickly and with no dignity.
