They are the only good ones, the Trunks one was very interesting since the dystopian world shown in more detail was a very big change of pace from regular Dragonball and has a very unique tone for the series. The Bardock one is similar in the sense that it doesn't feel like your typical DBZ arc where everyone fires some laser bullshit and yells at the end, both stories add to the main series by expanding little details we know about, especially since we know both of them don't have a happy ending with their more bleak tone.
Haven't seen the Trunks one, but the Bardock movie is pretty interesting.

And of course they had to ruin it by making a sequel where it turns out that getting blown the fuck up just sent Bardock into the distant past where he became the Legendary Super-Saiyan. That's a little bit dumb tbh.
Yeah but one not canon to both it's predecessor or the whole franchise

The DBZ TV specials (Burdock and Tranks) are unironic kino and genuine art.
I remember as a kid liking the Cooler movies quite a lot but I was a stupid kid and I haven't seen that shit in a decade.
Revenge is okay, i mean no SSJ shenanigans until the end and Cooler in that one is a tolerable villain .Return one is pretty much a continuation Revenge but heavier on SSJ, Cape comics shenanigans and Cooler going retarted
Not as good as the first Bardock one or the Trunks one but still tolerable

How clearly defined is canon status in DB land anyways if it's not a movie that clearly violates continuity?

One way is if Toriyama wasn't involved or didn't write it

Basically only the manga is canon.

I don't understand the kid goku shit at all. I keep seeing snippets of that when I look at GT shit and it's fucking weird. Just why? Why is he an adult SSJ44 monkey now as an adult, but then a kid the rest of the time?
Black Star Shenlong turned him into a kid. Shenlong can't act on anything stronger than himself (dead guys don't count because they're dead). Only as SSJ4 is Goku powerful enough to break the spell.

I liked Kai fairly well. I always recommend that version to noobs.
But I was so disappointed with how they handled the Buu arc. It was so bloated and tedious in Z and I was hoping they'd edit it down to a sleeker and tighter pace. But I'm not really sure if they cut anything out at all.
I only noticed the most egregious filler eps being gone. (Gohan going on a date with some chick, and Vegeta meeting some talking intestinal worms inside Buu's body and getting terrified of them.) It was still as slow and boring as ever except now the image is cropped to 16:9 and Mr. Satan and Videl have the wrong voices.
There is a Japanese cut of the Kai Buu saga. It's got fewer episodes. I dunno if there are other benefits and it's still cropped but I think it's otherwise slightly better than what got shipped overseas.

The original Buu saga was 91 episodes while the Japanese cut is 61 episodes for Japan and 69 episodes for the international version (i assume that's the dvds and blurays sold outside Japan)

Toriko seems like it would be cool if not for the top chef stuff.

It looks like DragonBall Super is probably cancelled. A new GeGeGe no Kitaro anime is taking its timeslot, and Masako Nozawa is cast in the new show.
