I don't think anyone under 75 does care that much, except Hawaiians and racist rednecks. I mean, even in our movies like Tora Tora Tora, it shows that Pearl Harbor took such severe damage and casualties due to military incompetence and complacence. All the high-ranking officers decided to take that Sunday off because they thought the Japanese did weekends too.

It was so incompetent that many believe that the President purposely allowed it to happen to create an excuse to go to war.

And it's still retarded to equate a military base being bombed to civilian cities being nuked.

China wasn't quite on par with the States at that point. And WWII was a bit before "Bomb the shit out of their cities" was considered overkill.

The USA cut trade with them at the time because of the shit they were doing in China and they thought surprising the USA would help them get the advantage (i.e. what Germany tried with Russia). It worked initially, but looking back they were always going to loose because they had fuck all resources for weapons and oil in the long run. It was less retarded, but still retarded to get into a war with an industrial super power when you have limited resources for a long war.
