Off-topic, but why are comic floppies still a thing in this day and age anyway? Buying three or four issues is almost as expensive as a single TPB that is likely to have just as much content. Why can't comic companies just publish their shit directly to TPB?

1. Releasing capeshit in short bursts makes it faster and less risky to see which issues need to get axed ASAP.
2. TPB means you can double-dip, since your loyal fans who've already read the weekly issues will probably buy the TPB as well.

I also think most story arcs area already written with a TPB in mind, which usually means the weekly issues have shit pacing.

Paying 4-5 bucks for a tiny issue is insane and means nerds must have a shit-ton of extra money laying around.

I'm surprised that Marvel nor DC ever bothered to experiment with an anthology series , even when Viz was doing that U.S. version of Shonen Jump that lasted during most of the 2000's.

I thought they maybe did that early in their existence? Well i think DC might have done that?

Seeing how Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27, I can see that.

Now that I think about it, I remember reading some old comics from the 70s from my late uncle. I think they were called "Kobra", and they basically had the Jump format.

But why would the Big Two do something like that today, when DC was apparently expecting people to buy up to 52 different issues per month?
