Did they mention the Butlerian Jihad or did they ignore that concept again - the whole reason people mutate themselves into living computers.
It's not there.

But I do love Herbert's genial reaction to the 1984 film (talks about it in the foreword of one of the books). He wasn't even mad that the final scene made Paul a literal messiah, completely subverting the story of his book.
But is that really a subversion? Isn't the whole second novel built around the conflict between hero, messiah and despot encapsulated by one man? I read the first book not long ago and it does kinda leave you with a bit of the "messiah" energy. Of course, a film will always be less subtle than a book. There are literary techniques books can employ which can't be used in film because film is a visual medium. And I'm comparing the book to the Spicediver cut of Dune 1984, which is the only version I've watched recently.

The spicediver cut uses the book's ending. In the theatrical cut, Paul makes it rain on Arrakis with magic or whatever. Herbert saw it and commented that it was incorrect, but didn't bother him.

Is Dunc 2 worth seeing or should i pirate it? Thanks/
It's meant for the big screen. I don't think it'll have the same effect on your laptop.

Ah, well that explains it. It's been decades since I've seen the original cut. I think my father had it on VHS. It was a home recording from broadcast television, which shows how long it has been.

Spicediver cut of Dune 1984 is fucking phenomenal btw. Highly recommended to those who haven't seen it. Is the book better? Probably. Still a cool movie.

So I guess there's a new Ghostbusters movie out and nobody* is talking about it. Not a good sign for Sony.

*Yes, Failous & Lupus made a video, but I ain't watchin' that shit.
