The key to understanding any controversy and whether or not it will damage the person is 'Does this change how we perceive this person (or how this person wants to be perceived) and, if so, for the worse?'

For example, look at Trump. The grab 'em by the pussy tape didn't really hurt him. Why? Because he's known to be a bit of a chauvinist and an asshole so this tape didn't really alter our perceptions of him. Now if Jeb! had said the same things, it would have destroyed him forever. Why? Because Jeb! wants people to perceive him as an honest, decent, family man and audio of him talking trash like he's in a gym locker room would have completely contradicted that image.

That's why this controversy has completely destroyed this guy. He wants people to believe he's an alpha cunt slayer and he can teach people to be an alpha cunt slayer too. But secretly he's into watching his wife get fucked and that's at complete odds with the image he's tried to cultivate
