When's "popular gaming" going to die?

AAA gaming cunt reporting to duty your faggotness! How can I be of assistance?

Well, better get to work, I see that I have many things to sperge about to bitter middle aged men who won't be willing to listen to me and will try to convince me of my shit tastes.

I'm not blind to issues coming from AAA - mainly the oversimplification of certain things - and I'm concerned of what's coming next, because AAA isn't just going away any time soon. I'm just not willing to throw a game under a bus if it has problems - only in multiplayer I care 100% about gameplay. If I think a game is shit, I have good reasons for it, because I feel like I would be a bigger idiot calling something I've been playing for 100 hours a shit.

Regarding GTA, I think San Andreas is still the best, it has really entertaining and satisfying characters, story, presentation and gameplay - so many fun things to do! Except flying - it took me about 3 weeks to finally come back and finish these god damn flying missions so I could progress further. Last GTA to have a boss fight as well, which is a shame. You can have more realistic settings while keeping some of the gameplay more unrestricted.

GTA V is second best for me, I liked many things about it, a lot of polish and attention to detail. I've hated Franklin and pretty much everything around him, especially that dumb monkey Lamar, who keeps getting saved by Franklin and never shows even a sign of respect. What's the point of trying to tell a more serious story if you insist on keeping "comical" characters who will act like they're from a different game?

I didn't like Trevor too much either, because some of his antics didn't fit into the more realistic plot they were trying to show, when you look at him, it's the character that screams "videogame", the problem is that the rest of the plot tries to be more like a crime movie. And I've actually liked Michael the most, simply because his "arch" has most polish and at least makes sense - you don't have to like the characters, I get it, sometimes a character just comes off as a irredeemable cunt to me and I don't care about them, but it didn't happen here. Trevor is just a maniac that should've been dead ten times over and feels like he has very little restriction, which fits badly with the story, and Franklin is just a nigga who will happily bend over to everyone for no reason. He is by far the blandest character in the whole game - his universal reaction to everything is "yeah whatever dog, I need to make some paper".

Oh, and I hate how they made Lester a complete moron in GTA Online. Fuck GTA Online in general - what kind of a degenerate do you have to be to spend money on microtransactions on something so disfunctional?

As for GTA 4, I believe plenty of people didn't like it too much and I remember hearing lots of negative things about it after it's PC release, but that also covered the shitty port they had. I think it's a good game, the more serious tone didn't hurt it too much, I liked Niko (at least compared to Franklin, he isn't little bitch and doesn't let everyone get his way with him) and Roman, and I think the heist mission is still one of the most entertaining ones in the whole GTA series. And the expansion pack was great - Ballad of Gay Tony is better than the original game itself. Lost and Damned, on the other hand, felt really shitty. I remember not liking the driving as well, in GTA V it feels much better and stable. Still, I'll take driving in GTA 4 over Mafia 2 any time.

Oh god Mafia 2 was a massive disappointment. Why even have an open world when there's absolutely nothing to do in it? Why give me money for completing missions when there's fuckall to buy and it'll be taken away entirely, including all my other shit, two times at random points? What a dumpster fire.

Besides the driving the gameplay in GTAIV is just plain better than V's. My favourite 3D GTA is Vice City because I'm a sucker for the whole Miami in the 80s setting. The PC port is fucking terrible, though.
V is just all over the place with it's tone. It wants to be Heat but often turns into Crank and sometimes Pineapple Express (including the terrible humor). Every GTA before it was more consistent with it's tone.

So they didn't fix anything from Mafia? God, that was fucking weird.

I also like Vice City quite a bit. Just had the best story and style among that generation of GTAs.
(Though San Andreas wins gameplaywise because you can finally swim in that one.)

And I think the reason V is so disjointed was because they couldn't decide on which direction to take. So they pulled a RE6 (or the other way around; can't be arsed to look up who came first) and did everything!

I agree that the tone in GTA V is inconsistent. I still think it's a great game, because it just has so much to offer, but it's really easy to criticize it's low points, because they are quite evident. Vice City is obviously good as well, but I've never finished it because of (again) stupid shitty mission where you have to fly - and I've just remembered that fucking mission with toy helicopter, oh god - I must've tried that at least 20 times, it was so bad. This is something that amazes me, apparently Rockstar just cannot make decent flying controls either for helicopters or planes. Even in GTA4 there is that stupid last mission where you can easily fail while trying to jump on a helicopter, because it's apparently bugged? I remember replaying the game few years ago only to give up on it at the last moment, because I've been failing seemingly simple bullshit for 30 minutes, and enough is enough.

As for Mafia 2, since Mafia 1 was still made purely by czech developers, it's highly respected in my country, besides being an amazing game for it's time as well, everybody was expecting Mafia 2 to be better in every aspect. Then the lead designer (who now makes Kingdom Come) left about year before release, and they scrapped many gameplay elements, plus rerecorded many of the Vito's dialogues and replaced them with shittier lines, because apparently 2K didn't like his character, so they made a moron out of him. I've never liked him, because he is just such a simpleton, which is a result of a shitty rewrite.

All I know (and I know a lot, because the lead designer talked about it in a czech podcast, plus I've compared E3 footage with released shitversion) is that the Mafia 2 we could've got would be amazing, but 2K fucked it up, got greedy and wanted something to appeal wider audience, which apparently meant dumbing down lots of dialogue, throwing the possibility to do missions quietly out of the window (for example) and cutting the game to pieces so they could sold extra DLC. Interestingly enough, there is an odd DLC which features a character with basically no background who just does objectives without any story really, and there is like 50 missions in that DLC - at least some of those would be featured in main game at some point as secondary objectives. One has to wonder how much of that game got truly fucked, but I would assume about 30-40%.

Mafia 1 was really good for it's time and remained the gold standard in PC gaming in Europe for a long time. I've read many reviews comparing games to it. Which is why 2 was such a disappointment to me. It's easy to believe 2k fucked with it. It feels very oddly bare bones. Even LA Noire had more to do on the side.

>not liking Lost and Damned

Just why? It's a completely unique type of game that you'll probably never see again from anyone at anything like a quality level of production. It's role-playing as a motorcycle gang AND they fixed motorcycle physics to be way less annoying and hard to control than cars. Motorcycles in GTA IV LaD actually control well. They added a shit-ton of bikes to choose from, you can use your phone to request a bike any time you want, you can get a bike or gun van for free WITHOUT buttering up Roman and you can do raids on rival gangs with your posse behind you.

You act like I need to bother convincing people you have bad taste, Sick Fuck. You liked vanilla GTA IV and Ballad of Genderfluid Tony better? Why? All the characters introduced in Gay Tony are asshole shitters except the dumb Arab guy. The lead dude in Gay Tony is just another Franklin who bitches about doing dumb nigga hood shit while constantly doing it because "that paper man." TLaD has missions with cool bitches like Elizabeta, plus the motorcycle gang is pretty cool too, especially the main villain.

I can't remember a single thing about Johny and his gang, besides some petty bullshit - especially the previous gang leader seemed like a dissapointment, because he really isn't involved much. I didn't like the missions, and the gang stuff did very little for me. Granted, I don't remember much about it anyways, but what I would've liked much more would be to make a road movie type of experience, would've worked so much better.

I'll give you Elizabeta - now that I've remembered, she was pretty good character. Truth be told, it's like 8 years since I've played it and a lot of it as escaped my already bad memory. It just felt lackluster.

If your dream is to roleplay because the game allowed you to drive in a formation with few other bikers, then suit yourself. It wasn't terrible, but it felt somewhat mediocre, certainly not as unique as you say, and Johny had no personality. Luis was ok, of anything, I got more Franklin vibes from Johny, at least Luis had some chemistry with Tony and his endless schemes. I remember the BoGT being fun from beginning to the end, I've played them both at the same time and had no prejudice against neither of them.

Believe me, I wouldn't mind playing a good biker game at all. But as far as I'm concerned, Full Throttle is the only bad ass biker game that exists.

Despite the story porn, I actually liked The Last of Us. It was pretty to look at and had some decent shooting and beating gameplay. Granted, I only played it on low difficulty so I had plenty of ammo and didn't have to sneak around all the time. Plus the chick looked like Ellen Page pre-dyke.

What I never understood was why the press never noticed that GTA V is just GTA: San Andreas 2, just ripped out all the '90s charm and turned it into a comedy heist movie.

Probably for me why Vice City is the best in the series.

And racism, can't forget that.

I haven't played San Andreas (yet) but from what I've seen isn't it basically Friday the video game
